Canada’s April Verch is a ball of energy she’s a beautiful singer, an excellent fiddler, and, as anyone who’s attended one of her concerts or watched her videos knows, a wicked talented step-dancer. Verch, joined by bassist/banjo player Cody Walters and guitarist Hayes Griffin (guests Mac Wiseman, Sammy Shelor, and Bruce Molsky also appear on several tracks), delivers some of her best music to date on her new record, Bright Like Gold (out today) Purchase CD Baby, Big Cartel , with solid originals like “The Only One” and “Morris & Boris” fitting neatly alongside traditional fiddle tunes as well as a feisty cover of Loretta Lynn’s “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind).” the album is packed with 20 songs running at 60minutes.
