Review: Ten Foot Polecats NEW Album 'Undertow'

Jim Chilson (Guitar) Chad Rousseau (Drums) Jay Scheffler (Vocals & Harp)

The new album from Boston's Ten Foot Polecats ‘Undertow’ is gonna drag you out to the woodshed and kick your ass,  a mixture of deep Mississippi mud, Chicago grit, Texas twang with flashes of San Fran psych layered as thick as the Boston molasses flood.

'Undertow’ Kicks off like fast moving freight train barreling down the tracks, with its smokestack spewing fire and sparks, geetar licks churning like steel wheels and harp hollowing like an unholy whistle, hold the hell on it’s gonna be a bare knuckle ride. Jim’s stellar guitar dexterity packs a wallop to every song,  Singer Jay Scheffler’s  diverse vocals and harp add distinct style flavors to each song from raw blues to countrified rocker, tying it all together are Chad Rousseau’s unswerving beats on the skins like the steam engine stoker shoveling coal into the furnace keeping it full steam ahead.

Having formed in 2001, the San Francisco trio Tartufi comprised of Lynne Angel, Brian Gorman and Ben Thorne, much praised for their awe-inspiring live sets has become well know for their loop- heavy sonic soundscapes, overlaying harmonies, melodies and poly-rhythms.

With six studio albums under their belts,Tartufi took over a year and a half to track and mix thier latest 'These Factory Days', once again with the aid of Tim Green (Melvins, Howlin Rain, Joanna Newsom, Fresh & Onlys) at Louder Studios and The Hangar, and also with Scott McDowell at Hyde Street  which Southern Records are releasing on March 25th.

Mother Merey and the Black Dirt - Down to the River

Mother Merey Kimbrough (washboard/vocals), Eric Witthans (dobro/vocals) and Kevin Allen (harp/vocals)

I was but a wee lad back when Canned Heat came on the scene and freaked me out with thier jug blues/boogie and I continue to go back to the orignal line up with Alan "Blind Owl" Christie Wilson, Bob "The Bear" Hite, Henry "Sunflower" Vestine releases for my fix of gritty rootsy, bluesy folk.
Austin's Mother Merey and the Black Dirt just changed that, they've got the missing ingredient, vocalist Merey Kimbrough's uncomparable singing over a slide resonator guitar and a boot stomping drum beat is addictive listening.
I heard the new single “Down to the River” from thier upcoming April release over on Twang Nation yesterday, click and listen. This led me to a frantic search for more and lo and behold you can get some excellent free music from their bandcamp page, do it while you await the new release!

#NoTourForOIdMen - The Slaughterhouse Chorus and The End Men

New York rock 'n' roots bands The End Men and The Slaughterhouse Chorus join forces for a 10-date U.S. tour this March, binging on booze, blues and barbecue from Bushwick to Bucktown. Spiking classic Americana influences with liberal shots of punk, garage and rock and roll, the two bands present a raucous, unpredictable and, dare we say, intoxicating double-bill. "No Tour For Old Men" kicks off in Brooklyn, NY at Muchmore's on March 20th, with Sons of an Illustrious Father!

No Tour For Old Men Tour Schedule:

3/20: Brooklyn, NY @ Muchmore's
3/21: Philadelphia, PA @ Kung Fu Necktie
3/22: Pittsburgh, PA @ Mr. Roboto Project
3/23: Columbus, OH @ Scarlet & Gray
3/24: Nashville, TN @ FooBar Too
3/25: Carbondale, IL @ PK's
3/26: Lawrence, KS @ Frank's North Star
3/27: Chicago, IL @ Quincher's
3/28: Canton, OH @ Buzzbin Magazine HQ
3/29: Rochester, NY @ Sticky Lips BBQ
3/30: Albany, NY @ Valentine's Music Club

Brooklynites The End Men distill their blend of blues, punk, garage and carnival music into what can best be described as pure rock 'n roll. It's a heady, heavy, immediate sound, one that made multiplatinum producer Bob Power exclaim "HOLY S#%%! Tom Waits meets the White Stripes." Flattering, sure, but maybe a little simplistic - the power-duo of Matthew Hendershot (vocals, guitar, bass) and Livia Ranalli (drums, percussions, vocals) conjure up a musical chaos quite unlike any you've heard before. Comedic interludes offset the energetic musical onslaught as the two play anything within reach; homemade instruments and found objects litter the stage, adding an unpredictable element to a floor-shaking live show that radiates reckless joy and abandon. 2013 is looking like a big year for the End Men: the terrible twosome have just released their first full-length record "Play With Your Toys" and will embark on their second tour of Europe this summer. (http://theendmen.bandcamp.com)

Hailing from the capital of the Empire State, Albany quartet The Slaughterhouse Chorus marinade their rampaging punk rock in country twang and classic rock swagger. 2012 saw the band touring the East Coast, racking up "Best Local Punk Band" designations in both the Albany Metroland Readers' and Critics' Polls, and unleashing their debut full-length on the world. Self-produced in their home studio (colloquially known as the John Wilkes Sound Booth), the album features a dozen boot-stomping singalongs that get political, personal, and downright apocalyptic- it's "a hell-bound hayride through the heart of America" (Dying Scene.com). The new year finds The Slaughterhouse Chorus releasing a split 7" record with Syracuse punk rockers Bridge Under Fire before hitting the road in March. Always committed to the DIY spirit, the band is also producing and releasing several albums by New York's finest independent bands over the course of 2013 on their own Built4BBQ label. New Release: Kurt von Stetten - Androlafi

Kurt von Stetten began experimenting with music and recordings in Boston during the summer of 1996. During this time, he began to experience terrible bouts of "self proclaimed"  bromhidrosis (look it up), forcing him to record alone in his bedroom. For a period of 10 years, von Stetten holed up in his bedroom studio and learned how to play guitar and drums by recording himself over and over again. Since 2006 he has released a full-length album every year for the last 7 years on which he plays every instrument (Guitar, Vocals, Cello, Keys, Drums/Percussion and Bass).

The themes of Androlafi (aka Witches) released today, are conjured from von Stetten's obsession with gothic folklore and the eternally frightening cautionary tales told to children. "I think that most of these songs reference fear and how people deal with fear," explains von Stetten. "Many of the songs are based on the stories my mother and father told me about their childhood and the stories that were told to them. These stories were fun and fantastic, but meant to mask great anxieties. Fear is a powerful motivator and the impetus for a lot of beauty."

A luscious multi instrumental excursion of Rock/Psych grooviness highlighted with opulent vocals.

Debut Album - Wood & Wire

Marathon Music Works Nashville, TN 1/11/13 with Trevor Smith, Dom Fisher, Matt Slusher, Tony Kamel

Austin-based bluegrass stringband Wood & Wire comes out the gate hard and fast with their debut, self-titled album. Like a chattering tommy gun, Trevor Smith’s rapid-fire banjo picking explodes from his strings, opening the album with one heck of a bang. It’s bluegrass, but with a heavy twang; Monroe-inspired tradition that owes a near equal dose of love to songwriters like Robert Plant, Willie Nelson, or Texas songwriters like Robert Earl Keen and Billy Joe Shaver.

The opening song, “Mexico,” is so strong and self-assured that you’ll find yourself wondering where these kids came from. The tale of a convict on the run, “Mexico” unfolds like a Tarantino grindhouse flick, the first sign of many on this album that Wood & Wire have found a way to take the same incendiary spark of bluegrass that first put the music on the map back in the late 1940s and channel it into a sound for a new generation.

Their debut album available on iTunes has a wide variety of songs–and some tunes too! The material ranges from the historical (“Coal Mining One” is set in 1940s Kentucky) to the heartbreaking (“Setting the World on Fire”) to the humorous (the raucous “Rollin’ in the Washingtons” takes a less-than-sober look at the financial situations–or lack thereof–of touring bluegrass musicians who have a taste for liquor and an eye for the ladies). Tight, three-part harmonies, sprightly mandolin, and rolling banjo keep the band’s sound grassy, while contemporary flourishes, like the cutting-edge arrangements and contemporary subject matter, speak to the group’s diverse backgrounds and far-flung musical influences.

The Whispering Tree - New EP 'The Escape'

Eleanor Kleiner, Elie Brangbour

Another fantastic New York folk duo, classically trained vocalist Eleanor Kleiner and French bassist Elie Brangbour 'The Whispering Tree' have traveled the world on an adventure that began when the two met at  the London Center of Contemporary Music in 2004. Combining a unique brand of folk/rock with all my favorite ingredients, sutry, haunting female vocals, great story telling and imagery with skillful musicianship.

On April 16, they will release The Escape EP recorded live at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn over three days, with Chris Schultz on drums, Clif Jackson on upright, Elie on acoustic guitar, and Clifton Hyde (who played on the 2007 EP) on electric guitar.
They are offering a free download of 'No Love' from the upcoming EP

Feel Bad For You - February

This month finds your Heroes all over the genre map, fighting against the Notorious Syndicated gang Doldrums Inc. Download

  1. Title: Cleaning Out My Closet (Eminem cover)
    Artist: Angel Haze
    Album: Classick (2012)
    Submitted By: @tincanman2010 (http://tincanland.wordpress.com/)
Comments: NSFW! wtf, rap on FBFY? Yeah, deal with it bitches. Eminem broke through rap’s colour barrier and Haze threatens to shatter it’s gender ceiling, so a cover seems appropriate. Similar styles, too

  2. Title: 1965 (Duas Tribos)
    Artist: Legião Urbana
Album (year): As Quatro Estações [2007]
    Submitted By: hoosier buddy
Comments: First, thanks go out to my last.fm friend Vitória for turning me on to this album. This song reminds me a little of The Refreshments circa 1996 – and also reminds me walking barefoot on hot beach sand, driving too fast in cars with bench seats, the big knobs on Silvertone guitar amps, Sandy Nelson of Superdrums! fame, first kisses, cool water when you’re super thirsty, and Deputy Dawg’s hat in the episode titled “National Spoof Day”.

  3. Title: King’s Flashlight
    Artist: Elliott, Rose, Da Costa
Album (year): CA TX NY Vol. 1 (2012)
    Submitted By: @philnorman
Comments:  An indie-songwriter supergroup kicking out a catchy jam
from Raina Rose. The whole 6 song EP is fantastic.

  4. Title: Pale Rider
    Artist: Heavy Horses
Album (year):  Murder Ballads & Other Love Songs
    Submitted By: Bryan Childs (ninebullets.net)
Comments: The Heavy Horses are the band I am currently and completely crushing on.

  5. Title: Abandoned
    Artist: Phil Norman
    Album (2010): Four Februarys
    Submitted By: @popa2unes
Comments: Well there’s February, a short month it will go by like that, then there’s March with cxcw in the middle of it which will go by too fast, really it’s almost spring.  There’s this guy Phil Norman, who does this February Album Writing Month (FAWM) thingy 14 songs in 28 days so there is sure to be some great new tunes coming from him, you may have heard of him and or it, He’s also in the excellent band called Blue Moonshine which rumors are they are close to releasing some new material which mayhaps will coincide with cxcw? Anyhoo I have a playlist on my Ipod with this song from Four Februarys ’07-‘10  in it and when it comes on I have to hit repeat, I dig it so much. Hope you enjoy it to, and follow along this year’s FAWM and nudge him and the band about cxcw, They’re on twitter and stuff.

  6. Title: Manchester
    Artist: Kishi Bashi
    Album (year): 151a (2012)
    Submitted By: TheOtherBrit
Comments: Stepping out of my Southern band box for this earworm that I discovered thanks to the end of the year lists. Though technically, still from the South.

  7. Title: This Boy Is Exhausted
    Artist: The Wrens
    Album (year): The Meadowlands (2003)
Submitted By: Ryan (Verbow @ altcountrytab.ca)
Comments: I think this is at least the third Wrens song I have submitted to this comp.  I can’t help it – I love the heck out of them and keep dreaming of a day when they actually release some new material.  10 years is a long time gone, but I digress – this is just a great example of a rock and roll song, about the tedium and glory of playing in a band and playing live.  Crank it up.

  8. Title: Lay Down
    Artist: Alberta Cross
Album (year): Daytrotter Session, 2KHz, 1/3/2013
    Submitted By: BoogieStudio22
Comments: Damn! I like these guys. Daytrotter Studios seems to be regular stop for these guys and they trotted out a new session in early January. I’m lovin’ this song right now.  I keep meaning to buy some Alberta Cross, but never get around to it. Iwill buy one of their albums this month!

  9. Title: Born to Ruin
    Artist: Wildlife
Album (year): …On the Heart (2013)
Submitted By:  April @ Now This Sound Is Brave
Comments: I was introduced to this Canadian band on Daytrotter’s Barnstormer 5 tour, and they were so brilliant that they overshadowed nearly all the other bands for me. “Born to Ruin” is the lead single off their second album, which is due out in early March, and when I first heard it, I couldn’t stop playing it. Their big drums, big vocals, and big heart keep getting me.

  10. Title: “I See a Darkness”
    Artist: Bonnie “Prince” Billy
Album (year): Now Here’s My Plan EP (2012)
    Submitted By: Beldo or @TheSecondSingle
Comments: Will Oldham remakes his own classic as a spirited ’70s-style country rocker.

  11. Title: I Still Write Your Name In The Snow
    Artist: Chet Atkins
    Album: Almost Alone (1996)
    Submitted By: toomuchcountry
Comments: Ahh, love is in the crisp air of winter – and apparently soaked into the new fallen snow. While listening to these romantic lyrics as sung by the original Certified Guitar Player, just remember to pay heed to Frank Zappa’s advice.

  12. Title: Victoria
    Artist: The Kinks
Album (Year): Arthur Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire (1969)
    Submitted by: Erschen
Comments: Been on a Kinks kick lately and really love this overlooked gem.

  13. Title: Night Train
    Artist: Oscar Peterson Trio
    Album (year): Night Train (1962)
    Submitted by: Gorrck
Comment: Old school jazz.  Go pour yourself a cocktail and enjoy.  NOTE:  Not to be confused with GnR’s “Night Train”

  14. Title: Ape of Dorado
    Artist: Dorado
Album (year): Anger Hunger Love and the Fear of Death (2013)
Submitted By: Mad Mackerel Music Blog
Comments: Dorado is our first great discovery of 2013. Dorado is one Jody Nelson. Dorado is sonic chaos. Dorado is musical mayhem. Dorado is somehow simultaneously disjointed and perfectly cohesive. While its roots might nominally be in southern rock, there are plenty of other forces at work here – psychedelia, folk, country-noir, art-rock, straight-up indie – the musical cauldron bubbles and seethes with every imaginable ingredient. This track, Ape of Dorado dips into a rockabilly rhythm, gives that up as a bad job and heads helter-skelter into scrappy indie rock, but does it all brilliantly. Dorado is what we imagine Heath Ledger’s Joker might have on repeat on his iPod.

  15. Title: Funtimes In Babylon (Demo)
    Artist: Father John Misty
Album (year): Fear Fun Demos 2012
    Submitted By:  Sandy @ Slowcoustic
Comments: Last year’s album Fear Fun from Father John Misty was one of the albums I was most interested in (due to my appreciation of J. Tillman’s previous work). It ended up being one of the year’s best albums in my opinion and quite frankly surprised me. So then, how about the cross between the older more acoustic J. Tillman and the new indie crooner Father John Misty? The acoustic demo for the opening track of the new album seems to be just that spot.

  16. Title: Love Reign O’er Me
    Artist: Pete Townshend
Album (year): The Quadrophenia Demos 2 (2012)
    Submitted By: Simon
Comments: This track sounds better every time I listen to it,  a wonderful version of a classic Who song from the soundtrack to Quadrophenia, released on a  2012 Record Store Day limited edition 10″ and the Director’s Cut box set.

  17. Title: You Gave Your Love To Me Softly
    Artist: Weezer
    Album (year): Angus (Soundtrack) (1995)
    Submitted By: annieTUFF
Comments: Man, I completely froze on song choice this month….BUT I’ve been revisiting my love for Weezer lately, so here you go FBFY.

  18. Title: Answering Machine (home solo demo)
    Artist: The Replacements
Album (year): Let it Be (orig. 1984, Deluxe Edition 2008)
    Submitted By: Rockstar Aimz
Comments: Went on a “Let it Be” bender this weekend. I think I like this song better than “I Will Dare,” and that song is genius.

  19. Title: Girlfriend
    Artist: Slim Dunlap
Album (year): Times Like This (1994)
    Submitted By: @scratchedsoul
Comments: Slim was the guitarist in the Replacements after Bobby Stinson left the band.  In Feb 2012 he had a pretty massive stroke which sucks. This is a song off his 2nd (and last) album.  He played solo in Boston one night on this tour and at the end of his set he said he needed someone to drive him to Cleveland after the gig. If you did he would buy your plane ticket home. I wish I could say I volunteered, but I didn’t. Regrets.  There’s a fund set up to help defray costs. More info here http://songsforslim.com

  20. Title: What is the Color of the Soul of a Man
    Artist: Jimmy Driftwood
Album: Voice of The People (1963)
    Submitted by: Truersound
Comments: Picked this record up recently and it proceeded to blow me away, this song in particular. Then found out it was released in 1963…wow

  21. Title: Anymore
Artist: Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats
    Album: Just Relax, Honey (2009)
    Submitted by: BoogieStudio22
Comments: Yeah… I added a second song. So what? This band sent us (FBFY) a little press release with some videos. So I say “What the heck, I’ll watch the videos”:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1hmOMKCd5Mhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48ZKos2D9Wg

I liked what heard (a bit of folk, indie, alt-country, americana, etc…) so I headed over to their site (http://www.jonathanwarrenmusic.com) , sampled the songs and bought their two albums. They are operating on the ‘ pay whatever you can afford’ principle, so if you like what you hear and pick up their albums, throw some money their way… like I did. Oh… and they were recently featured over on @popa2unes site too.

Ray G Ward & the Light - I Am You

Members:
Ryan Smith - Drums
Ray G Ward - Vocals, Guitars, Percussion
Michael Ward - Violin
Enrique Mancia - Bass
Colleen Ryan - Vocals

"Ray G Ward & the Light" is a Folk Rock group based in central New Jersey. The group has gained a reputation for their energetic and eclectic live performances that blend Alternative Rock with modern Folk. Their debut EP "Welcome to the Real World" was well-received by fans and critics in Folk, Indie, and Alternative circles. Thier newly released EP 'I Am You' features Ray and Colleens growing cohesiveness as a vocal duo with thier beatiful harmonies adding a richness to the poignant lyrics and melodious, well crafted rock/folk tinged songs.

The Quiet American - Wild Bill Jones

The Quiet American is husband and wife duo, Aaron and Nicole Keim. A home-grown modern folk revival, their music incorporates ballads, banjo breakdowns, raggy choruses, gospel duets and other dusty Americana gems, all delivered on a wide variety of acoustic instruments, some of which Aaron built himself.
Thier new album 'Wild Bill Jones' is a 15 song saga of this classic anti-hero. The tunes and songs on Wild Bill Jones have been stripped back one by one, even slowed down in some cases, with new melodies built, new words created, and original songs crafted from snippets of inspiration. On the album, you can hear an old-time string band rubbing shoulders with a back-alley hokum jug band, or vintage country duets sounding off with bluegrass harmonies

The Black Lillies - Runaway Freeway Blues

Contreras and his bandmates – harmony vocalist Trisha Gene Brady, multi-instrumentalist Tom Pryor, bass player Robert Richards and drummer Jamie Cook

The Black Lillies will release their new album, Runaway Freeway Blues on March 26th. Download the album’s first single, “The Fall”, below.

By Steve Wildsmith, The Daily Times
After co-founding Robinella and the CCstringband with his wife, Black Lillies front man Cruz Contreras spent nearly a decade traveling the road and making music from coast to coast. When his marriage – and the band – dissolved in 2007, he returned to the road … this time, as the driver of a truck for a stone company. It was here, over a year spent rolling down the highways of East Tennessee, that the songs and sounds that would form the nexus of The Black Lillies were conceived.
And “Runaway Freeway Blues,” the band’s third studio album, was realized exactly there … on the road. When the Lillies weren’t playing their 200-odd gigs during 2012, they were in Wild Chorus Studio in their hometown of Knoxville, Tenn., working with Scott Minor of Sparklehorse to craft a beautiful ode to restless spirits and rambling hearts. Rooted in the mud-rutted switchbacks of Appalachia, “Runaway Freeway Blues” is the sound of a band that’s becoming something of a phenomenon across the country.
Contreras and his bandmates – harmony vocalist Trisha Gene Brady, multi-instrumentalist Tom Pryor, bass player Robert Richards and drummer Jamie Cook – have grown from a few friends sitting around campfires and living rooms to a band that shows up in far-flung cities where folks to whom they’ve never played before already know the words to the songs.

The singer/songwriter duo of Anders Parker and Kendall Meade join forces to produce a real lovely, harmonic, and utterly endearing little beaut of an album with their debut CD. Although Parker’s dry croak neatly contrasts with Meade’s sweet delicate alto, they still nonetheless meld into a single pleasant and satisfying sound. Moreover, the thoughtful songwriting mines a nicely low-key line in quietly affecting introspection. The songs for the most part mosey along at a perfectly kicked back clip, with the gradual tempos and subdued beats chugging by in a soothing and engaging manner. The basic sound falls into the twangy’n’tuneful country-folk realm, with a dash of pop and a smidgen of rock tossed in on occasion to keep things lively and interesting. An extremely impressive and promising debut.

Thorn & Shout Self Titled Debut

Link Crowsfoot - Voice, guitar, banjo, bells, drum, shruti box, harmonica | Sofia Crowsfoot - Voice, viola, banjo, guitar

Sofia was formerly known as Squinch Owl who's 2010 Homeward Bound release is still estential listening, and Link Crowsfoot formerly of Thy Courage Quail are now Thorn & Shout. Combining Sofia's infectiously unique vocals and Link's enchanting Appalachian snake charmer voice integrated with great story telling and skillfully played abundance of intruments this is one fine folk album you will find yourself listening to again and again discovering something different everytime.

Sofia explains, “We strive for balance and equality, but sometimes it is difficult to reconcile our extraordinarily different approaches to music. Link became a musician in order to give his words a vehicle; I became a musician in spite of words, or rather because I felt that music was my language. I have started to write with much more intentionality, and I find that to be very rewarding. The key is balancing the rational aspect of music with the purely emotional or instinctual aspect- of course, this will take a lifetime, but it is something to work towards” Thorn and Shout is an anagram of north and south

NEW! The End Men - Play With Your Toys

Matthew Hendershot - vox, guitar, bass, other
Livia Ranalli - drums, percussions, toys, vox, other

Pack your bindle kids, run away and clean your mind. The End Men’s new album ‘Play With Your Toys’ kicks off like a Coney Island barker luring you into the tent not for the change in your pocket, but for a peek at astonishing wonders as they shred, bend and shape rock & roll to their will, from the first track with its Winkie Guards ‘Cleaning Your Mind’ intro and Matthew’s gruff declaration ‘It is important that you know what you are about to see is only a show.” we know we have just stepped off our familiar train stop into their world and ”You may leave here just a little bit deranged” and boom, like a canon barrage  Livia’s kit explodes with bursts of shrapnel flying into Matthews sonic fuzz intro, we’re pulled deeper into the tent enticed to experience something profound and unusual.
The album highlights all the things that make The End Men unique and cutting edge, with its carnivalesque rhythms and beats,  Livia’s trademark powerful percussion diversity and Matthews fluid guitar style and Al Jolson meets Tom Wait’s and Captain Beefheart vocals. It recreate's that sense of voyeurism one gets seeing them live, they seem to do some sort of secret ritual dance you’re viewing from a darkened glen as lanterns and moonlight glitter between the shadows after which you know you just witnessed something mysterious and beautiful.

John Wilkes Boothe And The Black Toothe

Myles Holt, Ben Melton, Paul Blackwell

John Wilkes Boothe And The Black Toothe is here to assassinate your blues and chase away the crushing despair of modern life.

The Toothe plays a unique brand of stripped down, super high energy acoustic folk rock. With a sound that's often difficult to pin down in a few words, the band has been described by some as a macabre Simon and Garfunkel, folk noir, and as the catchy two-headed lovechild birthed from an orgy between the Mountain Goats, Ween, The Avett Brothers, Leonard Cohen, and Morgan Freeman. Catchy melodies, morbid yet tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and endless vocal harmonies are all staples of the band's sound, as well memorable, intimate, and super energetic live shows. Come take a listen, and see why so many people in and around the Asheville community have been turning their heads when they hear the name John Wilkes Boothe and the Black Toothe!

Farewell Luna - By The Morning

Jared Wohl
Formerly the lead singer and guitarist with the group N.O.O.E., Jared a singer-songwriter from Morris Plains, NJ continued working on material after the band split up and started his solo project Farewell Luna. A natural crooner, a soulful Sinatra meets Motown crooner with a fervent impassioned vocal range laid atop soul-stirring melodies, and primal libidinous beats. Look for a new single and full length LP coming soon.

UPDATE:
Jared has just released an intensely heartfelt new single 'Momentary Angel' proceeds of which will benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. Reach deep and help out with whatever you can spare.
Having spent my entire life in NJ, I was overwhelmed by the devastation that Hurricane Sandy had caused. I began thinking of how I could possibly offer my help in rebuilding the community that provided me with so many amazing memories over the years. While in the studio recording "Momentary Angel", it finally hit me. I decided that I could offer the track to my fans in exchange for a donation to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. I'm donating 100% of the money that I receive from this site directly to aid the victims of this terrible disaster. My hope is that we will not only provide aid in a monetary sense, but also in a spiritual sense as well. I'm a true believer in the power that music has on the soul if we simply open our minds and our hearts. Please remember that no donation is too small. Thank you all in advance for your help. Together we will rebuild the garden state! - Jared Wohl
