The Fake Carls - Sabrina

Carl Allen - musical inspiration
Steve Panacek- lead guitar and backup vocals
Julie Wischan- lead vocals
Caleb Gallops- bass guitar
Randy Rivero - drums

You can always count on the UK Blog Drunken Werewolf to discover and share great new independent artists, I suggest you check in on them often. The Fake Carls is an awesome young new band from Nola about to release their debut self-titled EP in May '13. Listening to this first song I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Bio:

The Fake Carls gained their inspiration in 2010 when the members of the band met Carl David Allen. A quietly wise fellow, Carl quickly became the source of many people’s happiness, including band members Steve Panacek and Julie Wischan. The three spent many evenings chatting about life and playing music in their dorm rooms. Then after one year of joyful bliss, unexpectedly, Carl left and transferred to a school closer to his hometown in Tacoma, Washington. Devastated and deprived of their good friend, Steve and Julie didn’t know what to do with themselves. Until the two decided to form a band in his honor in the spring of 2011. The name came about from a time in November when Carl was still present at Loyola. It was no shave November and both Steve and Carl had their faces decorated with unshaved scruff. A fellow friend greeted them on that day, “Hey Carl. Oh... hey fake Carl.” The latter greeting was obviously in reference to Steve, and the name stuck.

The Fake Carls seek to write and perform refreshingly unique songs which can not be placed entirely in one genre. Our best guess in categorizing our sound is, "Neo Blues Pop Funk." You're welcome world.

Ruby The Hatchet released their long awaited debut album 'Ouroboro' today for your listening pleasure, stick it in your ear and tickle your brain. The song with the most plays gets released for free download next week.
If you missed the new album stream, aw shucks! As promised here's the new free track 'Black Tongue'

I am really excited about this album, I have been waiting and watching their Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr pages for any tidbits of news, it is a must have in my vinyl collection. Ruby the Hatchet are a four-piece psychedelic rock band from New Jersey/Philly with a new album release both digitally and on vinyl. The record was recorded and mixed primarily analog, using mostly equipment made before 1978 at Retro City Studios, it’s not meant to sound “vintage” they just wanted to make something honest, that pays homage to the way records used to be made.
Ruby are: Jillian Taylor: Vocals, John Scarperia: Guitar, Mike Parise: Bass, Owen Stewart: Drums,Vocals
Here's a teaser...Acoustic version of 'Nowhere' recorded for Couch by Couchwest in March

The Bottle Cap Rockets - First Seven

Al Gross (Lead Vocals, Lead & Rhythm Guitar),Yeurgen Renner (Drums), Chris Wolfer (Bass and backing vocals)

Look for a new Ep 'First Seven' to be released in July '12
The Bottle Cap Rockets is a New Jersey based three piece Indie Rock group formed by
Singer/Songwriter & Guitarist Al Gross. Al has sold a number of his works to Universal Music for use in movies and TV. His songs have been placed in several major pictures including the Academy Award winner “Monster” starring Charlize Theron along with placements in several popular TV shows including “Monk”, “The Osbournes” & “Cold Case”.

Bottle Cap Rocket’s music has a vintage quality but the band has it’s own fresh and current sound. Roots Rock influences can be heard in several numbers. A few tracks travel in a more bluesy direction and then comes the British Power Pop. It takes some confidence and musicianship to rip away the layers of complication in a world where this style of music has been left out in the cold for far too long. Bottle Cap Rockets practice the philosophy of “less is more.”
This three man band needs to be enjoyed LIVE. Look for their EP First Seven slated for release in July 2012 as well as three summer shows.
