Tell all the people that you know, Couch By Couchwest 2015 Submissions are open!

In it's 5th year, the original on line Music Festival Couch By Couchwest!  The event where the only hipster is you and the beers are cheaper, the only port-o-potty you need is a bed pan if you so desire, No badges, lanyards, bracelets, parking fees, ticket lines, babysitters, dogsitters, expensive beer prices, or crappy hotel rooms…just the sweet comfort of your own couch. Where to all the slackers meet? #CxCW.

As for myself, I start preping in February by reducing my number of showers incrementaly until I'm down to zero in one week, I visit La-Z-Boy's website dreaming of venue upgrades. I'll do kitchen experiments to create the perfect snacks, browse Taco and Burrito recipes. and check all my electronic gizmos for proper operation so that when the folks at Couch By Couchwest invade my venue I'm ready as Reddi-wip.

Here’s how it works, artists and bands from all over the globe record a video performance for them from their living rooms, kitchens, porches, bathrooms, you name it…pretty much anywhere but a stage…and the CxCW crew post them during the week of the festival (March 15th to 21st, 2015).
So now it's your part, spread the word, tell all your musician friends, about it and coax them to participate. All talent welcome, any genre just send them to the submissions page
And tell your friends friends, your siblings, your folks, your distant relatives, there are contests, prizes and rewards, it's a fulll frontal participation event for everyone.

Culling the Couch for Treasures Part One - Aron Blue's Bushwick Venue

I don't recall Aron Blue at previous CXCW Festivals, a fluff of the cushions to her for bringing so much good stuff this year Aron truly understands the concept of the festival bringing the masses to the couch for entertainment. Aron is a singer/songwriter and performer, her band is the fabulous Aron Blue & the Bootleggers

Throughout the week the talent rolled up to the camera at her Bushwick venue and delivered the goods!

Aron Blue and Dan Lieberman – Cold Hearted Man

Sharon Stacy – Troubled Mind (Catie Curtis cover)

Buffie Roseanne – Head High

Brook Pridemore – Who’s Gonna Build My Deathray

Kate Vargas – Throw The Devil Back

Julie Lablahblah – Untitled

Shayne Bovell – I Am Getting Old

Catie Vanderbilt – You’re Right

The Takin’ Care Of Business Band – Takin’ Care Of Business (BTO cover)

Submit to the Couch! #CXCW '14

Where the beer is cheaper and the only hipster is you.
CXCW is an annual online music festival that is for everyone. No badges, lanyards, bracelets, parking fees, ticket lines, exclusive parties, VIP tents, porta-potties, babysitters, dogsitters, expensive beer prices, or crappy hotel rooms…just the sweet comfort of your own couch. Here’s how it works, artists and bands from all over the globe record a video performance for us from their living rooms, kitchens, porches, bathrooms, you name it…pretty much anywhere but a stage…and are posted during the week of the festival.
This year's Couch By Couchwest dates are March 9th through March 15th
Musicians: Please upload your unique to CXCW 2014 video (i.e. for the CXCW festival) to YouTube or Vimeo and send the link to us via the below form or to cxcwest at gmail dot com. (Think of this video as your performance for the Couch by Couchwest audience.) For video and photo submissions, please see the Submissions page.
  • Videos do not have to be recorded on a couch, but they should be recorded essentially anywhere but a stage (we strongly encourage creativity). See these videos from CXCW 2012 for examples.
  • Submitted videos should be unique (i.e. for the CXCW audience). Please do not send us promos, EPK’s, live concert footage, music videos, slideshows, etc…
  • Low-budget iPhone videos are absolutely acceptable, in fact, they are encouraged.
  • For the love of god, no lip syncing.
  • You may do more than one video, but if we run out of time we may post both videos at the same time, or post only one. Your best bet is to do one kick-ass video that knocks our socks off!
  • Please tag your video with “CXCW2014″ so that we may keep track of it on our YouTube channel (if you use Vimeo or some other service, please do the same).
  • Also please include where you are from and any links you wish us to use (website, facebook, twitter, etc…) so that we may point our readers to you.
  • We love all types of music and will try to post everything (unless overly offensive of course…i.e. Nickleback covers). Only Darius Rucker* is allowed to send in a video of “Wagon Wheel.”
*The Darius Rucker “Wagon Wheel” provision was enacted in 2012 well before his version was even recorded, and quite frankly, we are amazed and sickened at the power we wield. Proof. This provision still stands and is henceforth known as the Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel Provision of 2012.
Those in the crowd: we want to see how you spend the CXCW festival! Send us pics of your CXCW festivities, recipes, haikus, pet photos, avant garde performance art, kegerator, moonshine still, etc… via cxcwest at gmail dot com.

Shout Outs: Couch By Couchwest 2013

The good folks over at Couch By Couchwest have pulled off something truly amazing and historic for cxcw2013 an influx of submissions while I don’t know the exact numbers of submissions it dwarfed last year’s event which dwarfed the inaugural 2011 event, the amount of participation was so high they even had to extend the festivities an additional day.  They even snagged an interview in a little ole music publication named Billboard!

I sat glued to my computer for eight days, afraid to take my regularly scheduled naps in fear of missing something; I shunned showers, survived on a diet of libations and snack foods while each video that was posted offered a new discovery or a treat from a favorite band/artist. While it may take you some time, I cannot suggest strongly enough how much you need to go over to the site and check it out, whether you were paying attention during the week or were somehow in the dark about the event there is a cornucopia of deliciousness awaiting your eyes and ears.

Now over the coming weeks you should be on the lookout for coverage from various blogs as lists are culled, performances highlighted and the awesomeness is relived. Now I found some new that blew me away and saw new songs by old favorites, I will save those for another day.

What I want to do here is highlight and thank the bands and artists that put up with my persistent nudging and reminders about submitting and taking part in this year’s event and those that returned for a second year and to the others that wished to but were unable see you next year!  They all were awesome and patient with me many rearranging their busy schedules, others with many questions and those that jumped and ran with it. Many, Many thanks to all of you!

When I contacted Tony Tedesco from the Full Fathom Five about participating his enthusiasm was immediate and intensive, he set about opening his studio club house to local New Jersey bands and letting them come in and record they’re submissions, and he supplied some amazing talent to the event. Here they all are in a playlist:

It was truly an amazing week at Couch By Couchwest 2013 and I will be spending all year revisiting all the truly fantastic talent that graced the pages of the Internets Oldest, Longest running online Music Festival, where the beer is cheaper, and the only hipster is you.

A few were unable to get thier videso in by the deadline due to thechnical reasons or other mishaps: I will inculed them here:
