Nebraskan Singer/songwriter Max Holmquist aka The Great American Desert (formerly, South of Lincoln) has a story to tell on his new album Carson City, the story is a timeless one that often repeats itself in relationships. Love is hard and many of us fail at it due to our own shortcomings. We struggle with our skeletons even though in our hearts we have good intentions and are trying the best we can. Though the story is set in the early 20th century, it is all too familiar even today. Cadillac’s, alcohol, gambling, the call of the road, affairs of the heart and the lives’ left broken in the wake.
Recorded by Ian Aeillo in his living room, performed with no extra instrumentation or vocal backup, Holmquist's rich vocals and guitar weave a sad tale with insights and lesson’s to be learned about the consequences of the wrong turns one can take in life.
