Stevie Guy/Peter Schuyff
The Woodwards
Peter Schuyff makes Urban, Folk Noir, which is both dark and funny – songs from a man who has seen everything.
He has some amazing stories to tell… Many from his times living as an artist in the Chelsea Hotel where he counted Andy Warhol (he even did Peter's portrait) and Keith Haring as friends. He was a painter/art at this stage with the likes of Dennis Hopper collecting his work.
The focus has now switched to making music, with comparisons made to Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits - songs are the painting he has always wanted to make.
This is the first track from his new album, which is due for release in September. The track entitled Nothing has a interesting video to accompany it, featuring an angry boy with a moustache.

The Woodwards’ remarkable eponymous 2009 debut album was produced by Attie Bauw (Judas Priest, Bootsie Collins, Simple Minds) and featured Rob Kloet (The Nits) on drums, Gwen Cresens on bandonion, and Signe Tollefsen’s backing vocals. The single ‘I wanna woman’ was released with an accompanying music video directed by Tycho van Zijderveld. Since then The Woodwards’ has joined Lucky Fonz III on a 2009 Netherlands theatre tour, toured the UK in April 2010, North America and Canada in September 2010 and then returned to tour the UK in November 2010.
After The Woodwards’ haunting first release Peter went back to writing, and after a surprisingly short amount of time emerged with a sound replete with lush harmonized vocals courtesy of his new backing singers including among others folk-noir starlet Signe Tollefsen. This new sound can be heard on The Woodwards 2011 EP, 'Burn Everything'.
