A native son of the Midwest, Wes Tirey released his first EP, I Stood Among Trees, in February 2013 recorded in two sessions at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville, I Stood Among Trees was named after a poem Tirey wrote about six years ago. Mixed, mastered, and engineered by Drew Thilmany and produced by Tirey.
He began playing and writing music as a young teen performing at open mics and small local gigs throughout his hometown of Dayton, Ohio with his band, Wes Tirey and The Easy Hearts, later known as The Bull and The Bear. After the band broke up, Tirey continued performing solo and opening for artists and bands like the Avett Brothers and Josh Ritter In his quest to find a vibrant music scene, Wes moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where he is currently studying Philosophy and creating music. For Wes, Asheville is a way to connect with his Southern roots, but it represents something much more, It’s a kind of a music Mecca for his
energy and creativity
