Don't miss this - Brothers Volume 1

On July 4th Brothers will release on digital/vinyl thier debut full length Volume 1, if your reading this and act quickly John Varvatos is giving away a special pre-release download in exchange for an addy. 10 harmony-soaked, classic rock and roll, country, bluesy, groovey, gospelly, boot-stompin, hand-clappin, soul-saving, whiskey-guzzlin tracks about the rocky road to redemption and the dirty pitstops along the way.

"Though not all members of Brothers are actually related, the Brooklyn-based band is nonetheless carrying on a rock ‘n’ roll fraternal tradition. Old school rockers who look like Motorhead and sound like The Allman Brothers riding motorcycles, these guys basks in their hard edge sound, stylized with leather, cigarettes, tattoos and fishnet-clad ladies nearby." -Devon Antonetti, The Deli

"The first thing that’s awesome about Brothers is immediately evident when you see them live — they wear matching leather jackets with a growling tiger emblazoned across the back, reading “BROTHERS NEW YORK CITY.” Appearances aren’t everything, but this band lives up to their badass first impression the moment they start singing. A brand of stomp-heavy, scuzzy, rough and tumble southern rock that there should always be more of, Brothers have no holds barred as they clap and growl their way through their first single, “Real Long Way To Go.” The vocals are none too polished, but isn’t that kind of the point? This is seriously loud, whiskey-soaked, blues-laden rock ‘n’ roll, and I couldn’t be happier about it." - Indie Shuffle

"Brothers play Rock'n'Roll drenched in southern twang (and probably also Jack Daniels). The band is currently putting the final touches on their debut full length, but if you are in the mood for an unpretentious and in your face rock party, don't wait any longer and check them out live" - The Deli Mag

"A splendid soul-stomping garage-door denting four-piece" - Hamish Robertson, The Delta Brilliant, VF.com

"These guys sound exceptionally handsome" - Josh Eells, Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone

"They call them Brothers. They're modern savages. Real sonic searchers. What're they searching for? The ride! The ultimate ride." - David Swanson, Deputy Editor, MAXIM

BROTHERS are:
Billy Sorrentino (lead vocals, guitar)
Damon Boelte (lead guitar, vocals)
Dylan Boelte (bass, vocals)
Mike O’Rourke (drums)
Blaine O'Brien (vocals, harp, percussion)
Drew Blood (keyboards, vocals)

Updated: Albuquerque's Red Light Cameras

Amanda Machon-Vocals /Chris Walsh-Guitars, Palmas, Vocals /Barney Lopez-Bass, Harmonica, Palmas, Vocals /Kirsten Lopez-Drums, Cajon, Palmas, Vocals

Update: Live recordings from KUNM's Studio A released 17 June 2012 have a listen

Red Light Cameras is a hot 4 piece Indie/Garage/Pop outfit from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Started in late 2010, Red Light Cameras has quickly become Albuquerque’s Must-See Band! Red Light Cameras are an energetic group of performers that always put on an amazing live show. The band is fronted by musical theatre actress, Amanda Machon, and her powerhouse voice has been described as “what Tina Turner and Janis Joplin would have produced if they ever had a kid together.” (Israel Morales—examiner.com) With Chris Walsh on guitar and husband & wife duo Barney & Kirsten Lopez on bass and drums, everyone agrees Red Light Cameras are “an aural breath of fresh air.” (Dan MacIntosh—Indie Music Reviewer Magazine)

Red Light Cameras’ groovy beats, quirky lyrics & catchy melodies have quickly caught the attention of local and international audiences. They are “currently taking the city by storm” (Charlie Cargo—Local IQ). When listening to Red Light Cameras you will hear sounds that are inspired by all styles of American music. “There’s much more going on here than noisy rock & roll. For example, “Got My Doubts” is a song balanced upon acoustic guitar and harmonica, while “Home” is a pretty, country-leaning track with slide guitar.” (Dan MacIntosh—Indie Music Reviewer Magazine) But don’t be fooled. Red Light Cameras can rock hard, too. With tracks like “Why” & “Convertible” it’s easy to see that this band “is built for speed.” (Dan MacIntosh—Indie Music Reviewer Magazine)

The Disappointment 'Damn Righteous'

Lee Godleski - Bass/Tj Provenzano - Guitar/Peck - Vocals Guitar/Matt Powell – Drums
The bearded bards of Brooklyn 'The Disappointment' have released a new Ep 'Damn Righteous'

"Where'd That Drink Come From' A hypnotically melodic stare into your bourbon tune with big beats and striking guitar riffs as Peck laments, 'she said that i keep on losing my mind  one cell at a time cuz i been strictly fixing my high one drink at a time'

'The Prince and the Playground' lay's down a dark film noirish beat with haunting guitar licks, and their signature sarcastic yet poignant lyrics, Peck broodingly sings 'who am i kidding with my  reasons for living here,  who am i fooling with my excuse for moving here,  you ain't no prince, no this ain't your playground'

'Sharp as Knives' Is a groovy tune that highlights the subtle but great keyboard playing of Eric Maltz that is interspersed on the whole EP.

'Technically 17' has a soulful quality with a funky bass beat and harmonic vocals over rhythmic guitars and keyboard but lyrically it is bluesy number as Peck achingly sings, 'so we take turns in our resolve to betray the only good thing that we picked up along the way'

With great expectations do I look for more from this up and coming New York band.

Melody Walker - Gold Rush Goddess

Melody Walker released her new album "Gold Rush Goddess" in March this year and it's FREE to download at bandcamp, but hey, hit the tip jar ifin you got.

Melody is joined by Jacob Groopman to create a dynamic acoustic roots duo. "Melody's soulful songwriting and Jacob's picking prowess join together in a duo that is creating it's own genre: "Americali". Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, respectively, Melody and Jacob represent a real fusion of ideas and sounds, with the literacy and musicianship to pull it off. Their voices harmonize earnestly over intricate textures of banjo, guitar and mandolin, as they sing of ancient truths and futuristic myths, bringing their eclectic influences to life in traditional forms."

Melody Walker is a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist and virtuosic vocalist from Northern California. Starting with piano at age 6 and then guitar at 13, Melody’s classical ear grew alongside the myriad musical tastes of her parents, which ranged from the Beatles to Bill Monroe to Bossa Nova and back again. Soon, she was writing original songs and forming bands with her friends in middle and high school. Melody went on to study piano, voice and world percussion at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California and holds a B.A. in Music.

A musical thrill-seeker of sorts, Melody’s curious ear has led her around the world to study music, most notably in India and Brazil. This travel revealed a greater appreciation for the American traditional music she was raised around and gave her a singular perspective on it’s idiosyncratic beauty.

Melody’s songwriting is strongly rooted in Western folk and pop forms, while her content and delivery draws on more global sounds and themes. Combined with a holistic understanding of music theory and competence on several instruments, she is bringing a new unique voice to the American song. Her songs cut to the crux of the matter and make you remember you came. Melody wont lie and tell you she’s not trying to change the world through music, but she’s taking her time getting there, coating each word with honey so you want to sing along.

Foxygen is Sam France, Jonathan Rado and whoever the fuck else they think is glamorous.
Legend has it while the two lads Sam and Jonathan grooved in a bedroom surrounded by instruments and rinky dink recording devices honing their skills, George Harrison descended on a cloud playing the sitar and Jim Morrison rode in upon a great snake and bestowed upon them the mystical powers to channel every psychedelic, funk, blues, garage, and rock riff and vocal style both known and unknown in the mellifluous cosmos and stir them into a magical elixir. They set forth on a cosmic journey ensuing an album trail of “Electric Sun Machine,” “Cat Food, Dog Food, Motor Oil,” “The Jurrassic Exxplosion Phillipic,” “Ghettoplastikk” and then “Kill Art.”

In 2011 they released “EP 2011” recorded on a mono 8-track cassette stay up to date on Facebook and Twitter
