VIDEO PREMIERE> OOLALA - Falling Out Of The Universe

Le Sony'r Ra, The Black Man In the Cosmos has been traveling through time and space for 37 years, a not insignificant number, signifying exploring entirely new things, ideas, locations, and methods it enjoys exploring the overlooked nooks and crannies of established things. Particles of star dust have amassed from the supernatural flight of Sun Ra in a stellar fusion creating a Golden Egg, now fallen to earth with a mystic message 'We are OOLALA we bring forth Universal Space Rock and Roll a mystic pillar for the 21st Century. We bring not the answers you seek, but the rhythms to lead you to them.
OOLALA is Rumi Kitchen singer/guitar, Vincent "The Lion" Federici guitar/vocals and Lux Nauta on the drums. Their upcoming album was recorded at their studio near the Sun Ra Arkestra house.
On stage, the earth stands still as Rumi Kitchen descends from the cosmos in a cape with over 800 mirrors on it illuminating the enthralled masses.
In the words of Sun Ra:
"My whole body changed into something else. I could see through myself. And I went up... I wasn't in human form... I landed on a planet that I identified as Saturn... they teleported me and I was down on [a] stage with them. They wanted to talk with me. They had one little antenna on each ear. A little antenna over each eye. They talked to me. They told me to stop [attending college] because there was going to be great trouble in schools... the world was going into complete chaos... I would speak [through music], and the world would listen. That's what they told me"
Our intial communication on the release date of the debut album "The New RockRoll Cosmology" is it's being released by The Giving Groove label out of Philadelphia (sometime in May). You can catch their cosmic shows at Century Bar in South Philly on Feb. 24th and April 1st at Ortlieb's. In May they'll embark on a tour of earthly locations TBA
For a limited time only, ends space date 2017.24.2 the single is available for a smidgeon on stardust (free) at above web portal.

The first transmission is the video for the first single called "Falling Out Of The Universe" we've recently learned from Astronomer's that our long held knowledge the universe is expanding, being pulled they've now discovered a large emptiness of space named the Dipole Repeller is also pushing us through space. And in this new found space of tug-of-war, OOLALA creates gravitational tugs and deviant motions they are spinning on their own axis, creating their own gravitational pull and we are along for the ride. "Falling Out Of The Universe" is an epic anthemic Rocker with the familiarity of our cosmic pull and harnessing the newly discovered push of the Dipole Repeller on our collective star dust. Our galactic orchestra smiles and turns the pages of the sheet music.

Philly Space Travelers will know them from Johnny Showcase & The Mystic Ticket, and Spinning Leaves.

Playboy Manbaby New Singles "You Can Be A Fascist Too"/ “I’d Like To Meet Your Parents,”

Playboy Manbaby is the contradictory soundtrack to the contemporary life experience. Grimly sarcastic yet youthfully nihilistic music that seems to crash into things with a semi-coherent deliberation that can only be generated by a group of frail but over-caffeinated and eternally anxious young adults. Playboy Manbaby is the theme song to the sentiment “what the fuck am I doing with my life?” Indecisive in both message and genre but never lacking in sheer intensity.

The group hail from Phoenix, Arizona and consist of Robbie Pfeffer (vocals), Chris Hudson (bass), TJ Friga (guitar), David Cosme (trumpet), Chad Dennis (drums), and Austin Rickert (sax). Having been a regional powerhouse for over five years with two previously released cassette albums on their own Rubber Brothers label, these lads have have shared the stage with the likes of: Mike Watt & The Missing Men, King Khan & BBQ Show, King Khan & The Shrines, Rocket From The Crypt, Thee Oh Sees, Cosmonauts, The Spits, Black Flag, The Descendents, The Replacements, The Slackers, Teenage Bottlerocket, amongst countless others.

After having just wrapped up the mastering of their long overdue new LP "Don't Let It Be", these desert area DIY-veterans have just released the first single off the album,"You Can Be A Fascist Too" in honor of the new US President. Singer Robbie Pfeffer explains, "we feel like every societal catastrophe deserves a proper theme song."
On the B side and in their latest music video “I’d Like To Meet Your Parents,” viewers are forced to watch two lovebirds looking to enjoy a night out at a place presumably called Crapriotti’s or La Doo Doo which serves only the best Rasberry Creme Shasta and Spaghetti ala Ketchup.

“We shot this video in my living room and tried to make it a terrible Italian restaurant,” says Playboy frontman Robbie Pfeffer. “I wanted to make a video where the band is playing but aren’t really an important or central part of it. I didn’t tell the guys what the idea was, I just told them to show up at a certain time and then started yelling at them to paint their faces etc. I’m super glad how it turned out and I think everyone did a great job embracing their characters.”

"THIS NIGHT WAS NUTS! We played to a sold out crowd at Valley Bar with our friends Treasure Mammal and Sonoran Chorus. The whole night was surreal. We had costume changes, an intermission, people running around with cameras. I don't think we've ever played a set this long before but somehow the night just went by so fast. This video SERIOUSLY could not have turned out so well without really amazing people helping us. So thank you to Ryan Riggs, James Johnson, Tyler Huffman, Spike Mitchell and everyone at Valley Bar."

Stomp'n'Grind, Garage Rock, The Routes NEW Album 'In This Perfect Hell'

Based in a bowl in the mountains (Hita City, Oita prefecture), Anglo-Nipponese trio The Routes play independently over 600 miles south of the Tokyo garage scene.

The Routes have a distinct influence from UK and US 60s music and culture as the name suggests they've followed the right signposts of the past, groovy, Mod with punkatude and heavy on psychedelia weaved like San Fransico flashbacks courtesy of Owsley's punch bowl. A love child of  Blues Magoos & 13th Floor Elevators, they also add flashes of Dick Dale surf riffs on the Kinkish 'Worry' and the 'Thousand Forgotten Dreams' which has a killer opening bass line setting up an Eric Burdon worthy rant. The catchy 'Peeling Face' has great Herman's Hermits harmony's and a definite British Invasion influence of the Mods of the early 60's.
The laid back 'In Years Gone By' draws heavy on early Stones Aftermath era, with echo and reverb prominent. 'Oblivious' draws on every trick in their impressive toolkit, with a riff that's an instant hook. The title track 'Perfect Hell' is a hot slow burner that proves, with all the references made above this is a band with it's own identity seeped in garage rock and masters of their craft and ready to take on the world from their remote mountain hideaway.

Members:
Chris Jack:  Guitar, vocals, Keyboards
Yuichiro Tomishige:  Drums
Kensaku Muronaka:  Bass

“In This Perfect Hell” on Dirty Water Records is the fifth album by The Routes, brings you ten original songs. No filler and no covers. From the start, you can tell it’s not going to be your stereotypical garage album. This time The Routes seemed have strayed far from your average garage bands comfort zone. They have stripped everything right down in the playing department, with leader Chris Jack playing pretty much everything apart from the drums. The stripping down seems to have the opposite effect, of creating a huge, thick, heavy wall of sound. The nasty Japanese fuzz pedals, and very simple guitar leads stab through the wall, and stick into your brain. It’s not exactly your typical garage, it’s not exactly psych; it’s not exactly any one thing in particular. Is this a mutant musical manifestation of Chris Jack’s musical taste? One wonders if he opened the floodgates on his musical tastes and just let it all come through."

The 44 Territories - Debut Release 'Story'

A honky tonk with sawdust and peanut shells on the floor, a jukebox heavy with outlaw country and the warmest beer in any town is conducive to influencing any group of talented musicians to don the shitkickers and toss their hats and worn acoustics into any available space and get twang and dirty. That's the story of these talented outlaws from Detroit and I'm sticking to it. Don't walk, shuffle and grab this album and play this thing loud with an open dance floor and a lady in a Prairie dress.

The 44 Territories are a Detroit-based band, who take their interpretation of Americana music – heartfelt lyricism, twangy guitars and evocative imagery – and marry it to a distinctly Detroit rhythm and drive.

The 44 Territories, consisting of Dan McKernan (guitar/vocals), Erik Pelto (drums), John ‘Wolf’ Abel (bass) and Josh Weddle (guitar), was formed in 2015 as the four collaborated on new material and realized the music they were creating was different than projects they had worked on in the past.
Individually, The 44 Territories come from a variety of backgrounds, each as varied as the guys themselves. McKernan and Pelto spent years playing in the alt-country Desolation Angels. Abel has played with artists as diverse as Tantric, Kenny Olsen, and is a member of Detroit soul artists The Infatuations. Weddle brings his southern rock and blues guitar from a variety of rock and gospel bands.

Last summer and fall, the band went into the acclaimed Rustbelt Studios to record their debut with Producer John Smerek (The Deadstring Brothers, Detroit Cobras, Kenny Tudrick). The resulting EP, Story, showcases songs full of twang and gusto, from the California-country infused "101"
to the southwestern "Blacktop Road" and the driving Outlaw Country of "Getting Even (and Movin’ On)". There’s even a cover of the Talking Heads "Psycho Killer", with an arrangement that would make Waylon Jennings (or Sturgill Simpson) proud.

First Look> NEW Video 'Ballerino' From NYC chanteuse MAY

New York-based Australian chanteuse MAY releases her new single 'Ballerino.' Pulling influences of Nina Simone and Leonard Cohen through a prism of haunted soul, MAY’s heartbreaking vocal soothes before barrelling to a cinematic crescendo.

'Ballerino' is an ode to a Parisian moment lost in time and the struggle to reconcile past and present. Accompanied by a haunting music video featuring a choreographed ballet routine, the dancer's movements mirror the song's beauty and pain, where love and acceptance ultimately triumph.

'Ballerino,' is the first of several songs planned for release in 2017.

Swedish singer-songwriter duo "Smith & Thell" Debut Album "Soulprints"

Swedish duo Smith & Thell have emerged as two of the most successful new songwriters and producers out of Sweden during the last year or two. They have over 20 gold and platinum records to their name for other artists, and over 200 million streams to date.
Last year at the prestigious Denniz Pop Awards, they were awarded "Best New Artist” by their peers, a jury of the most successful Swedish writers led by the one and only Max Martin.

The pair have released two singles, in the leadup to their forthcoming debut album "Soulprints" to be globally released April 2017 through Playground Music Scandinavia AB.

Listen to breakthrough single "Statue"

Listen to second single "Row"

Maria Jane Smith and Victor Thell, collectively known as Smith & Thell, met as teenagers at a local music event in their hometown of Helsingborg in Southern Sweden. Since then, they have spent their time establishing themselves as one of Sweden's most sought after songwriter and producer combos. They have contributed as writers on songs for major label artists that have combined to be streamed over 200,000,000 times (in Scandinavia alone).

After deciding to launch their own artist project, Smith & Thell, they submitted their original song “Statue” to be considered for Sweden’s prestigious Denniz Pop Awards. With a panel led by multi-platinum producer Max Martin, the jury selected Smith & Thell as the “2015 New Artist of The Year” which is the same honor that was given to international superstar Tove Lo in 2014.

”Statue" is a strong, hopeful anthem about ripping the metaphorical bandages off your emotional wounds and letting your real feelings out”. The duo chose to write about this subject matter for very personal reasons since at age 13, Maria tragically lost both her parents. "I wasn’t mentally ill, just heartbroken and sad. Reluctantly, I was medicated by all these doctors, but what I wanted and needed was therapy, understanding and human connection, not pills" she says. The songs message has already resonated with fans as the group receives messages daily thanking them for being so open and honest about the issue of “over prescribing” which millions of people are effected by all around the world. Their second single ”Row” was released worldwide on October 7th, 2016.

The Lunar Effect - Strange Lands

Like the band's namesake, their music moves in cycles and rhythms much like all humans and living creatures. Getting signals from external sources as well as inner cues, The Lunar Effect traverse the phases and phenomenon of existence with a blend of psychedelia and primal rock.

Jon Jefford describes it thusly,
“The album as a concept is really influenced by space, time and other worlds. We were very aware of this throughout the writing and recording sessions. Everything from the artwork and music to some of the lyrics has an extra-terrestrial feel, questioning who we are. It’s no Ziggy or Floyd but for us it definitely flowed, even the title Strange Lands. That was originally from a song that didn’t make the cut, but the name stands. “Waking up in a strange land, we’ve all done it.”

Vocals/Guitar/Piano/Harmonium - Jon Jefford
Guitar - Jim Harris
Bass - Mark Fuller
Drums - Daniel Jefford

'Strange Lands' can be streamed and purchased as a download via the band's Bandcamp page

There's a Ruckus In The Hen House, MFC Chicken, Goin' Chicken Crazy.

There's a party in the hen house and feathers are flying with these crazy fun loving roosters. Who doesn't love hip-swinging music from a band that enjoys playing together so much it's contagious and starts a ruckus from the first song to the last. Warning: Side effects include uncontrollable giddiness, cravings for shots of Tequila, belly laughs and dance floor mayhem.

MFC Chicken is back in action with Colonel Spencer back from spending another well-dressed summer hidden deep within the Canadian Wilderness. The Chickens are ready to take Europe by storm with a new album and extended tour of Spain and the UK.

After debuting an expanded all-star DELUXE line up at Spring 2016's Hipsville Festival to great acclaim and significant excitement, MFC Chicken have taken this new and improved recipe into the studio for their latest and greatest album to date, GOIN' CHICKEN CRAZY. It keeps that same raw Chicken energy, humour and party vibe that you fans have all come to know and love while adding extra punch and power with a load of special guest talent.

In addition to the core line up of Spencer Evoy (Tenor Sax and Lead Vocals), Alberto Zioli (Lead guitar and vocals) Zig Criscuolo (Bass) and Ravi-Low Beer (Drums), the Deluxe line up includes Chuchi Malapersona (Oh! Gunquit) on baritone sax, Dan Criscuolo (The Fuzillis)  on baritone guitar,  Tim Harrison (The Caezars) on piano, as well as veteran Chickens The Reverend Parsley on guest keys and Fernando Terror sharing double lead vocals with Spencer on one of the albums' most lyrically inappropriate tunes.

In addition to their new album released in November 2016 on Dirty Water Records, MFC have more exciting poultry products in the pipe line. They've been in the studio with Sister Cookie, recording two more exciting tunes for their second collaborative single and, after an unforgettable performance backing up the legendary GARY US BONDS at the Surforama Festival in Spain, they're in the process of collaborating with the R&B legend for a brand new single. Stay tuned for updates!

The Darts are a Bulls-Eye to your External Auditory Meatus

My Sunday ritual starts with coffee, coffee, dash of baileys, recliner, headphones and Palmyra Delran's Trash-Pop Shindig on SiriusXM #21 followed by the walking encyclopaedia and spinner of the best R&R on the plant, Steven Van Zandt, and diggity dang doodle Chris Carter's British Invasion is a wealth of obscure tunes and insight. Anyhoo, I kept hearing these groovy retro grrls garage psych tunes and had to wrest myself from my recliner to get close to the device and see who it was making me shuffle and jimmy jam in my recliner and every time it was The Darts laying down some of the tastiest tunes I've heard in a very long time. The two Arizona desert gypsies, singer and keys player Nicole Laurenne, bassist and singer Christina Nunez and two LA streetwise vamps, drummer and singer Rikki Styxx, guitarist and singer Michelle Balderrama seemed destined to wreak havoc on the music scene, having formed just in 2016 they've melded like four spilt tubes of Gorilla glue with missing caps mixing it up with sticky grooves you have to peel off your ears.
Every song on their debut LP is a full onslaught of adrenaline released raw retro raunchy unadulterated shimmy and shaking rock and roll and if it doesn't have you swinging from a chandelier you probably need a defibrillator to shock you back to life.

Release Date: January 13th 2017 on Dirty Water Records. Put this record on your essential listening agenda. It will stick with you until your Best of 2017 List, Giddy up dang doodle!

“I’ve always wanted to an all-girl band, with bad ass girls that are awesome,” says singer Nicole Laurenne (who also plays keyboards) in The Darts. And the key there is “bad ass”. Because this ain’t elevator music. This band is more heavy and aggressive sounding than any of the ladies’ previous bands – which include ’60s garage revalists The Love Me Nots, Motobunny, Zero Zero (Nicole), The Two Tens, The Dollyrots, Thee Outta Sites (drumming singer Rikki Styxx), The Love Me Nots, Casual Encounters, The Madcaps (bassist/singer Christina  Nunez), Brainspoon (guitarist/singer Michelle Balderrama).

Christina will tell you clearly that, “The Darts are a little dirtier and little angrier than what we’ve done before.” But one has to ask, if guys were playing like this would it still be describe as “aggressive”? Maybe not. What this is, basically, is just good ol’ fashioned rock’n’roll, a little rough around the edges (as all good rock’n’roll ought to be), with a certain old-school punk feel and, most of all, a good time vibe.

The band formed in early 2016 when, after watching each other’s bands from the sidelines for years, Arizona natives Nicole and Christina got the idea of writing some songs and making music together and recruited the other two members from down in Southern California. With six songs ready, Rikki and Michelle recorded their tracks in Los Angeles and then Nicole and Christina tracked their parts in Phoenix. Arizona producer Bob Hoag then masterfully stirred the mess together over a piping hot console resulting in masterful tunes full of garage riffs, girl-group harmonies, fuzz bass, Farfisa organ, pounding drum fills, and all-around lo-fi-turned-hi-fi goodness.

Their song “Take What I Need” powered its way into the rotation on Little Steven’s radio show, and proclaimed ‘Coolest Song in the World” and the band got a very glowing shout-out from Steven King via Twitter. After all that, they only played their first live show together in October 2016 and then signed to Dirty Water Records just a few short months later.

While The Darts offers a new creative outlet for the ladies, all are already seasoned musicians. Laurenne and Nunez are both veterans of the recently-disbanded Love Me Nots, Styxx has kept the beat with The Dollyrots and Balderrama is a member of the long-running Los Angeles band Brainspoon.

Check out My News Desk where the Grrrl's dish more insights and share a coupla songs and videos. The Darts (US): Phoenix-Los Angeles 'Grrrl Gang' Ready For Tour... - Dirty Water Records

The Darts are about to begin a nationwide tour that’ll keep them on the road through January; after a bit of a break they’ll return to touring in March. The Darts are touring across the southern states of the US in January 2017 with Oakland’s all-girl rock duo Steel Cranes, and then will be poised to invade Europe on tour in May where they will kick your ass
Nicole Laurenne: We spend a lot of time in the van sleeping, gossiping, griping, stopping at vintage stores, trying to find vegan and gluten-free food at roadside diners, and yes it’s true, rehearsing the set banging on steering wheels/dashboards/portable keyboards. Before and after the shows it really does kind of take on that slumber party vibe, as cliché as that might seem. All four of us are really involved in loading and unloading gear, setting up the stage, helping with the merch booth, and sound checking, but the emphasis is definitely on fun and hanging out with each other at the bar as much as possible. There is very little time spent on outfits and makeup and whatnot in this band; we all come to the stage pretty much as we are. That’s one of our mantras. Like I said, it’s cathartic.
