If you follow me on twitter you know I really dig this NY/NJ Band
Watch Fort Lean’s Video for ‘Beach Holiday’
No matter how you slice it or dice it, this bands a beach
Fort Lean are a Brooklyn outfit on a roll. The fivesome garnered some noteworthy praise during their sprint through CMJ earlier this fall, and for good reason: Their indie rock is sleeves-rolled-up, no-nonsense jukebox fare, anchored by wild-maned frontguy Keenan Mitchell's massive, vein-popping vocals, a dead ringer for Okkervil River's Will Sheff. The clip below for "Beach Holiday," the opening cut from their self-released EP, finds Mitchell and his bandmates sweating it out behind the counter in East Williamsburg, taking orders from crabby Italian ladies on Graham Avenue. Just as a hard-working Brooklyn band should. - David Bevan Spin Magazine
With not very much under its belt besides a great self-released EP from earlier this year — still available free at its Bandcamp page — Fort Lean is already a standout. The frontman, Keenan Mitchell, has a huge, glorious voice — washed out but not sleazy, embodying hope and triumph. He’s a classic romantic, and time and again during this show, he appeared as if he might burst. - JON CARAMANICA The New York Times
